    Bring your ideas! Please attend our public input session on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at VLPRA Mildred Hunter Community Center. This session is for residents to voice their opinions and ideas on the future needs for Parks and Recreation in Valdosta and Lowndes County. The input will be used to create a Master Plan for Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks and Recreation Authority. The plan is a roadmap that guides VLPRA in the next five to ten years in terms of facility additions, renovations, and programs. The session is completely free and open to the public. We will have fun activities to gather input and it is open to all ages. This is one of six meetings throughout Valdosta/ Lowndes County. We encourage you to attend at least one of the six of the meeting if at all possible. This is your chance to shape the future of parks and recreation in our community! We hope to see you there.

  4. Fishing Rodeo

    September 21, 2019, 7:00 AM @ Grassy Pond

    Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks & Recreation Authority and Moody Air Force Base are teaming up to host their annual community-wide Youth Fishing Rodeo. Kids will fish from the bank or from their own boat. There will be trophies for the most fish and biggest fish for each age group. Age divisions are 5-9, 10-14, and 15-18 years old. Participants need to bring their own rods and reels; live bait will be provided. Lowndes County Bass Masters will provide the official judging and scoring, with an awards ceremony at noon. Fishing licenses are required for competitors ages 16 and up. The license must be purchased prior to the event, as they will not be sold the day of the rodeo. Register in advance to waive the parking fee.
