  • Local Special Olympics Opening Ceremonies at Freedom Park

  • Kick off the Azalea Festival weekend with a 5K! Registration is open now for both the 5K and Fun Run at the Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks & Recreation Authority’s website, www.vlpra.com. On-site registration will open at 7:00 AM on Saturday morning, March 11th, at the Valdosta State University Recreation Center located at 1300 Sustella Avenue. The race will start and finish at the Recreation Center. The 5K begins with a mass start at 8:00 AM. The fun run starts when the last 5K participant finishes. Both events are open to all ages and all fitness levels. Strollers welcome! Participants will get t-shirts and Smoothie King treats while supplies last. Shirts are guaranteed for participants who pre-register. There will be medals for the top 5K finishers overall and in each age division. Registration is $20 for the 5K and $10 for the fun run.
